After months of hard work, today we celebrated our final rehearsal in preparation for the Dublin Choral Festival with a few songs in Downtown Petoskey! What began as a seemingly impossible dream is just days from coming true!
We are the Little Traverse Youth Choir, a tuition-free choir of singers ages 12-19 from throughout Northern Michigan. This fall we received an exiting invitation to sing in the prestigious 2018 Dublin Choral Festival in Dublin, Ireland, and to perform in the American Celebration of Music in Scotland with concerts in Edinburgh and Glasgow, Scotland!
On Tuesday morning, we will board a bus to Chicago, to meet fellow performers from Mid-Maryland Performing Arts Center’s Dance Unbound, then board a plane that will take us to Dublin. For many of us, it will be our first time flying. New friendships and experiences await. We will sing in cathedrals and castles, all while making new friendships and amazing memories. We’ll grow as a group and grow in confidence. Upon our return, we’re so excited to perform at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts Community Open House, in celebration of the Center’s grand opening on July 8! We hope some of our new friends will come to visit when we host the Children of the World in Harmony Festival in Northern MI in July, 2019.
We are so grateful for the support we have received from so many! Whether you attended a concert, donated cans, bought a pie, a bake sale item, pasta, a wreath, or made a donation to “Adopt a Star” or GoFundMe, we thank you. We are so grateful to each and every one of you!
We are so close to boarding our bus with fundraising complete! A generous Friend of the Choir has stepped in to help us draw the fundraising portion to a close with a $4,000 challenge grant. Donations are being gratefully accepted on-line at Square and by checks made payable to “VWB” and mailed to Brenda Bell, President, Voices Without Borders, 320 Crown Pointe Drive, Petoskey, MI. 49770. Voices Without Borders is a 501(c)(3) and donations are tax deductible.
Thank you from the very bottom of our hearts!
Stay tuned! It is going to be an amazing adventure and we would love to share it with you!
